About Us

Our Story

Pastors Bruce and Christal first met as teenagers after a Sunday night service in northeast Ohio. They were married in November 2000 and soon welcomed two wonderful children, Bruce III and Amanya. Sensing that God was preparing them for future ministry, they both enrolled at Ohio Christian University to pursue degrees in Pastoral Leadership.

In 2011, Pastor Bruce made an impromptu trip to Florida. After returning to Ohio, he couldn’t shake a persistent thought: “What if we started a church in Florida?” It weighed on him day and night until, after a week of wrestling, he finally shared his heart with Christal. Together, they entered a season of prayer and fasting. Through a series of confirmations, God made it clear—He was calling them to move to Florida and plant Champion City Church.

In 2012, the Hall family sold nearly everything they owned (except the kids!) and packed what they could into their cars, taking the biggest step of faith they had ever taken. They first spent two years in Fort Myers, FL, learning about church planting. In the summer of 2014, they moved to Tampa to begin the process of planting Champion City Church.

On February 26, 2017, Champion City officially launched, and the vision God placed in their hearts came to life. Today, Pastors Bruce and Christal count it an honor to serve the people of Champion City and the greater Tampa/Riverview area.
